Reactive Attachment Therapy

We use a child and family therapy approach for building and enhancing attachment, self-esteem, trust in others. We teach the parents how to have  interactions that focus on four essential qualities found in parent-child relationships: Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge. Our sessions create an active, emotional connection between the child and parent or caregiver, resulting in improved self-image, an ability to regulate emotions and establish healthy relationships.

4 stages of treatment:

1.       Intake and Assessment
2       Psycho-education
3.      RAD therapeutic techniques that guides the parent and child through playful, fun games, developmentally challenging activities, and nurturing activities.
4        Follow-up consultations

The goals of this treatment model for children who have suffered traumatic events include:

• Help the parent/caregiver  regulate the child’s behavior and communicate love, joy, and safety to the child which helps the child feel secure, cared for, connected and worthy.

• Reduce the emotional and behavioral symptoms exhibited by RAD children

• Facilitating children's adjustment to placement when needed

• Assist child in developing a healthy attachment
